Ultra Exclusive Testing

*You can request a brochure on any of these tests.

  1. Hair Analysis:

This is positively magic and one of my favorite screening tools. Did you know that whether it's Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium or Zinc, or the smaller guys like Chromium, Selenium, Copper or and that hard one to pronounce, Molybdenum; minerals are the sparkplugs of life. That's right! Minerals are involved in virtually all enzyme reactions and functions your body performs day in and day out. What more fascinating is that minerals work hand in hand with hormones and with each other to ensure your entire body functions at optimum capacity everyday. If any one of them are out of whack, you health and energy is compromised in every way.

The hair analysis is amazingly accurate in reflecting deficiencies or excesses at the cell level and gives a definitive insight into the status of the thyroid, the adrenals, overall stress burden, blood sugar, digestion, and sex hormones plus any toxic metals. Resulting information allows me to prioritize treatment and supplementation toward those areas that need immediate attention. It will reveal to us long before any blood test, often before symptoms, the specific status of your blood sugar, your adrenals, your thyroid, your digestion and your hormones and how well all these essential processes are working together in harmony.

    Hair Analysis Procedure:

You'll snip a measured amount of hair from the base of the hairline at the neck, and send in envelope to lab. Results are sent to Michele. In-person consult is scheduled to discuss findings and recommended follow up plan. This procedure would require 2 appointments/sessions.

  2. Adrenal Stress Index (Saliva):

This test measures the strength and state of your adrenals. Specifically it measures the strength, abundance and function of designated hormones including cortisol, insulin and DHEA. A body out of balance and/or under stress over time will typically manifest in weakened or exhausted adrenals. Since these glands are responsible for your ability to tackle the fear, irritation, frustration and challenges of every day life, it's vitally important you take darned good care of them. It's estimated that unless you're living in a cave or on a remote island, you're most likely living with worn out adrenals.

The adrenal glands do not secrete their hormones at the same level throughout the day. They follow more of a circadian rhythm peaking in the morning and dropping to their lowest point in the late evening and early AM. night. The adrenal hormones are SOOOOO important that fluctuations, increases or decreases in secretion of these babies can affect everything from your blood sugar which means your overall energy, to muscle and joint function, to bone strength, to your immune system, the quality of your sleep, skin regeneration, thyroid function and even your tolerance for eating grains and other foods. WOW! We'll identify and assess your "fight or flight syndrome damage and go about supporting, strengthening or rebuilding those precious glands in the proper manner.

    Adrenal Stress Index Procedure:

Patient takes several saliva samples during a day, refrigerates them, then mails them into lab. Results are sent to Michele. Appointment is scheduled to discuss findings and plan of action.

*** Conditions and symptoms addressed include fatigue, erratic energy patterns, excess stress, sleep disorders, insomnia, decreased libido and sexual performance, lowered stamina and vitality, immune weaknesses like frequent infections, colds and allergies, osteoporosis, slow metabolism, skin problems, and intolerance to grains (gluten).

  3. Thyroid Panel: (Saliva)

The thyroid gland controls energy production in the powerhouse (mitochondria) of our body cells. These glands contain iodine and two pivotal and metabolically active hormones call Thyroxine, T4 and Thiiodothyronine, T3. These thyroid hormones exert multiple effects that include: Metabolic Rate or the rate at which your body maintains an even temperature, Carbohydrate Metabolism or the rate of glucose absorption or energy production throughout the body, and Fat Metabolism or mobilizing fat from storage and stimulating the use of fat for energy needs. You can see that these functions can mean the critical difference between whether you gain, lose or maintain optimum weight, energy and overall vitality. Equally significant is the connection between a healthy thyroid and overall nutrition status, sexual function and the quality of sleep.

    Thyroid Panel Procedure:

Patient takes saliva sample, refrigerates, and sends to lab. Results are sent to Michele and an appointment is scheduled to discuss results and plan of action.

***Conditions and symptoms addressed include: fatigue, dry skin and hair, intolerance to cold, low body temperature and/or cold hands and feet, constipation or bowel hyperactivity, weight gain or loss, sleep disturbances, increased sweating, nervousness and other probable hormone deficiencies or imbalances.

  4. Food Intolerance Panel (Saliva):

If you've ever wondered or suspected that some of your health problems may be related to something you may be eating, you may very well be right. It's estimated that over 50% of the population is sensitive or intolerant to one or more basic food proteins. The most common culprits are cow's milk, soy, egg and gluten. Since these are among the foods we eat most often, testing can put an end to your suspicions.

** A little known fact: Until it is identified and addressed, a food "allergy" or "intolerance" can literally destroy your chances of enjoying good health regardless of what else you do.

** AMAZING STORY. A new client of mine presented with a history of excruciating migraines for over 20 years. She was taking 3 different medications; one to resolve and relieve severe occasional acute pain, one for mild to moderate episodes and one for ongoing maintenance. In other words, she'd been drugged for over 20 years.

The Food Intolerance test showed she was reactive to all 4 suspicious foods; soy, dairy, eggs and grains or gluten. Difficult as it was, we designed a program for her that eliminated all these foods from her diet, and low and behold, within days, her headaches disappeared. She now takes only an occasional med when she accidentally eats something she shouldn't. Her energy has returned and she is a new woman. A 20 year struggle with pain and drug dependence ended with one test and a change in diet. I told you it was AMAZING!

    Food Intolerance Panel Procedure:

Patient eats all suspect foods for 2 days then takes saliva sample, refrigerates, and sends to lab by mail. Results are sent to Michele and appointment is made to discuss results and plan of action.

*** Typical conditions and symptoms addressed include: skin rashes, chronic indigestion and bloating, constipation and gas, chronic allergies, fatigue, inability to lose weight, headaches, arthritis or other degenerative or chronic symptoms.

  5. Gastrointestinal Health Panel:

The GI Panel is a non invasive screening of the Gastrointestinal tract and its function. It includes 15-22 individual but related tests. Presently the risk of being infected or infested by pathogenic organisms through food and water is ever increasing. This is due to several reasons: immigration, frequent overseas travel, importation of vegetables and fruits, lack of public health policy to screen food handlers, outdoor and wilderness excursions, alternate lifestyle, agricultural pollution, pets at home etc. Truthfully, almost all of us have some number of "bugs" living in us at any given time. Most will not cause serious health problems, but some will.

    Gastrointestinal Health Panel Procedure:

Patient collects stool and saliva samples and sends them to lab by mail. Results are sent to Michele and appointment is made to discuss results and plan of action.

***Possible conditions arising from these "critters" range from chronic infections or inflammation, compromised nutritional status, digestive and bowel disorders, anemia and even cancer.

  6. Female Hormone Panel:

The human female is born with immature ovaries which gradually mature until the start of menstruation signals a fully functional reproductive system. The primary female hormones are Estradiol and Progesterone. These hormones are responsible for the more obvious "girly" characteristics and functions such soft skin and hair, higher pitched voice, development of breasts and of course pregnancy and bearing children. What most people don't realize is that your female hormones are not just about sex. They are critical for every aspect of your overall health including strong bones, healthy kidneys, liver function, metabolism, weight management, quality of sleep, and more throughout your entire life. Beyond that, for a multitude of reasons, many women suffer from hormone imbalances that can profoundly affect your overall vitality and sense of well being.

    Female Hormone Panel Procedure:

For the first time in routine medical practice, both patient and doctor can view the actual profile of Estrogen and Progesterone simultaneously. A simple non invasive test is done by collecting 11 saliva samples during specified time periods throughout the cycle. The test also reports the cycle average for Testosterone and DHEA. Patient collects the saliva samples and sends them to lab by mail. Results are sent to Michele and appointment is made to discuss results and plan of action.

***Conditions and applications for this tests include: functional Infertility, PMS, Estrogen Dominance symptoms including fatigue, weight gain, depression and mood swings, sugar cravings, influence of diet, exercise and lifestyle, dysmenorrhea, ie painful and heavy periods, Migraine headaches, Endometriosis and cystic ovarian disease, early osteoporosis.

  7. Menopause/Post Menopausal Hormone Panel:

You'd never know it from our perverse obsession with it in this culture, but Menopause is neither a disease nor an illness. Literally, menopause means the cessation of the monthly menstrual cycle and signals the end of a woman's natural childbearing years. Because the hormones are such a powerful part of a woman's overall health, this period of transition and change can produce a variety of symptoms and health risks that range from minimal to debilitating.

Hormone levels of both Estrogen and Progesterone should be sufficient and balanced. To much or too little of either can dramatically effect long term emotional, mental and bodily health. Hormone levels from woman to woman can vary 200% to 1500%. With proper testing, we can then customize natural hormone dosing to meet individual needs, optimize levels for minimum dose to relieve symptoms, achieve physiologic levels of several hormones and increase the sense of well being by removing underlying hormone deficit and imbalances.

** IMPORTANT The custom of Western Medicine to arbitrarily prescribe synthetic Estrogen to women facing menopause is not only unscientific but has proven to be reckless, irresponsible and often dangerous. The assumption that every woman needs more estrogen after menopause but no longer needs progesterone comes from pure ignorance. Most women with "hormone imbalance" symptoms are actually suffering from either too much Estrogen or too little Progesterone; a condition known as Estrogen Dominance. This condition is rampant in our culture and can be easily corrected by proper testing, diet and natural vs synthetic hormone supplementation.

I ask you, does it make any sense to be ingesting a foreign substance most often made from horse urine and 1000% times stronger than human estrogen on the assumption that you just might be deficient without actually testing and measuring your levels first? Of course not! First of all, none of we women has a horse urine deficiency, right? If we need hormone replacement at all, it should be a natural substance that is identical to our own hormones. One that is just as effective as our own hormones but is safe and without dangerous side effects. Link

Patient takes several saliva samples, refrigerates, and sends to lab. Results are sent to Michele and an appointment is scheduled to discuss results and plan of action.

***Conditions and symptoms addressed include: bleeding irregularities, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, nervousness irritability, headache, mood swings, depression, skin aging, osteoporosis, weight gain or fat redistribution, atherosclerosis.

  8. MHP Male and Expanded Male Hormone Panel for Men:

Traditionally age related hormone changes in m en were not considered problematic because fertility in men persists until an advanced age. More careful evaluation has shown that changes in men in the fourth and fifth decades of life is now considered the male equivalent of menopause ie Andropause. This means that deficiencies and imbalances exist in men as well as women. Eg. Androgen supplementation in states of deficiency in men can improve fitness and overall well being, reduce abdominal fat and enhance lean body mass, an excess of Excess estrogen can produce excess body fat, and breast and prostate enlargement. An imbalance or deficiency of testosterone can result in reduced interest in sex or erectile dysfunction.
